To understand the risk of investing in altcoins, take a look at the tectonic price chart. There's your answer. Altcoin is always a high-risk asset, even if it seems that there is a next-level project that will change crypto now, and then the price of this project falls by 90% and then it may fall by 99% and nobody will need this "super new" project with its technology. The only two coins in which you can invest always in my opinion is BTC/ETH and the second one is questionable.
